Update: Due to the increasing number of phone calls, we have added another phone line. There's still only two of us here, so the excuses below still apply. But we are trying to keep up!

Updated Update : We now have a bilingual phone system. French or Spanish. No English, just French or Spanish. One more reason to buy local. You have to read the fine print when you buy online. Yes, I thought bilingual meant English and Spanish.

Why we don't answer the phone sometimes.

It's nothing personal!

It could be any one or a combination of the following:

1: There is more than one customer in the store when you call (see photo above) There are just two three of us here, do the math. You are important, but if someone has taken the time to come see us, we feel they should have our undivided attention.

2: We bumped something with our wireless phone and hit the talk button. The record time for not noticing this is 67 minutes. (Kelley's Record)

3: We put the wireless phone down so as not to hit the talk button on something, and now can't find it before the voice mail picks up the line.

4: That wheel throwing scene from Ghost is on TV. Give us a few minutes and call back.

5: Our forklift doesn't have a muffler.

6: It's before 7am or after 11pm.

7: We have one customer in the store, one pulling in the parking lot, one on the other phone line ordering a new kiln, pugmill, and 10,000lbs of clay. What would you do?

We have to set priorities. Our focus is on schools, local potters, those who are just starting out and those making a living at it.

Next comes those who don't have a local supplier and need to ship things in anyway.

If you are the latter, please cut us some slack. We're on your side.

Again, it's nothing personal.

I'm sure by this time you are saying to yourself "Why don't they hire some help".

No problem, if you know someone that can answer all of the following, send them by.

1: What's the difference in isofrax and durablanket?

2: What's the difference in a top and middle element on a Skutt 1027?

3: Why is there a difference in a top and middle element on a Skutt 1027?

4: What is the standard grade of Cobalt Oxide as used in Pottery?

5: Do you have a Drivers License? Is it a CDL? Is that last DUI off of your record?

6: What's the best orifice size for a MR750 burner on propane at 5psi?

7: What is public law 100-695?

8: Can you work 12 to 14 hours a day.

9: Will you take studio space as pay?

10: Will you not break anything, steal anything, or make anyone mad?

11: Do you have a passion for pottery.

We would love to have someone that could do all of the above, but until we meet them, we might as well do it ourselves.

Super Dave Johnson answered all of the above correctly! He now works with us at Flat Rock.
