Kiln Firing and Maintenance

May 17, 2008 (Sat) For Beginners, Teachers and Artists who want to Learn More About Firing Your Electric Kiln , we are offering a 6 hr course on the firing principals and will go over loading, bisque & glaze firing, electricity, voltage, kiln sitter, cones, controllers, ventilation, safety and troubleshooting. It'll run from 10-4p and is $49 (lunch is included). The workshop is limited to the first 12. Register early.

An intensive workshop with the ultimate potter /artist /entertainer, Randy Brodnax!

Hands on , three day event of mud slinging, story telling and pot making. Learn the secrets behind "potato chip thin" pots from a master of the technique.

Three days, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. March 12th through 14th.

Robin Hopper

March 2-4, 2007 Robin Hopper is coming March 2-4 for a full 3 days of intense learning. He will be demonstrating a combination of wheel work, both functional and one-of-a-kind assemblage and finishing the works with colored clay techniques, traditional slip ware, brush work and many more decoration techniques.  There will also be some coverage of simplified glaze and color development. Books will be available.  His latest book comes out Dec 21- Robin Hopper: a Lifetime of Works, Ideas and Techniques

August 29 (Tuesday) 5-8 p.m.  -  FREE Throwing Demo Workshop .  Shimpo Ceramics is providing a wheel-throwing demonstration for us. This is a great opportunity to watch a extraordinary throwerYosuke Koizumi is a potter from Japan who joined the Shimpo team in Japan, after working as a production potter for two years in the pottery village of Shigaraki. Yosuke was instrumental in the development of the RK-Whisper potter's wheel. He is quite a talented potter, a graduate of Tulane University, whose demonstrations focus on the spontaneity of Japanese pottery.  There will also be specials from Shimpo available this afternoon and evening.  This is an event not-to-miss!
